frequently asked questions
How long does car key replacement take?
Most car key replacements are completed on site in a single visit. The time varies depending on the key type and vehicle. A standard replacement typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. Smart keys and proximity keys may take a little longer.
Can you replace a key if I only have one left?
Yes. You don’t need to lose all your keys before getting a spare. If you have one key remaining, we can use it to create an additional key that works alongside it. This is the quickest and most cost-effective time to get a spare made.
What if I've bought a replacement key online — can you program it?
In many cases, yes. If you’ve purchased a key blank online and need it cutting and coding to your vehicle, call us and we’ll confirm whether we can work with it. Some aftermarket blanks are not compatible, so it’s worth checking before you buy.
Do you replace smart keys and proximity keys?
Yes. We replace and program smart keys, proximity keys, and keyless entry systems. We carry up-to-date programming equipment to handle modern vehicle security.
What information do I need when I call?
Your vehicle make, model, year, and registration number. This helps us confirm we have the right key blank and equipment before we arrive, so the job can be done in a single visit.
Can you make a key on site or do I need to go to a workshop?
Everything is done on site at your location. Whether you’re at home, at work, or anywhere within our 35 mile coverage area, we bring the equipment to you. You don’t need to tow your car anywhere.
My car key is damaged rather than lost — can you replace it?
Yes. Whether your key casing is broken, the buttons have stopped working, or the internal chip is damaged, we can assess it and advise whether it needs repairing or fully replacing. Call us and describe the issue.
Is it worth getting a spare key made even if I haven't lost mine?
Yes, and we’d strongly recommend it. Getting a spare made while you still have a working key is significantly quicker and simpler than replacing a lost key from scratch. It’s cheaper too. Call us for a quote.
